The Godfather of Kathmandu

After practically inhaling John Burdett's Bangkok series, I have fallen in love with Bangkok and Kathmandu.  Considering that these books are murder mysteries, that may seem a strange response.  But Burdett manages to introduce the reader to the vital, the magical and the volatile of place without compromising it's soul or integrity.  In addition, this book is a surprising masterpiece of contemporary philosophy.

Scenes from my script would include these images:

Det. Sonchai Jitpleecheep, our narrator (dude, you try finding a mixed Thai actor who can play that part...this guy is perfect.)
